Ultra-long action potential channel

Dejian Ren, and members of his lab, have a new report on a non-inactivating, two-pore Na+ channel, called TCP3, found in Xenopus laevis oocytes, amongst other cell/tissue types.  This paper is particularly interesting to us because the fertilization-evoked depolarization in X. laevis eggs is a type of a prolonged action potential:
