Along these lines, a study was published this summer demonstrating that elite male faculty members in the life sciences are less likely to employ women compared to their female colleagues.  This is a significant finding because, for example, only 10% of all faculty have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences yet 60% of new faculty members did a postdoc with a with a member of the National Academy.
